Related to the Tour
1. The tour will run over the whole year, comprising three 'Major' Events in Río de Janeiro, London and New York, as well as four 'Open' Events in Sao Paulo, Chicago, Nashville and Madrid.
2. Money amount distributed as prizes during the year will be approved and announced at the start of every year, by mutual agreement between PTA Board of Directors and PTA Tour Players' Representative.
3. There are no limits to the number of players per city or per PPM.
4. All tournaments will be based on over knockout rounds, over three sets each match until the final, which will be played on 5 sets.
Related to Matches Conditions
5. All players should be in the city where the next event is, at least the evening before the event is due to start, if they don't have to participate in any other event. Players will be allowed to leave the city during the tournament, as long as they play their matches on time, when they need to travel to participate in other events. They are also allowed to leave the city when it is essential to attend a personal event (such as a wedding), after notifying the Director of the event.
6. When matches are to be created, the first player who arrives at the beach should create the first set - check to see if the set has been created, if it has not then it is your responsibility to create it. The player who did not create set 1, is then responsible for creating set 2 and this should be done before joining set 1. The player who created set 1 should then create set 3 before joining set 2 - in a three set match if the 3rd set is not needed it can always be cancelled. In a 5 set match, the player who created set 2 should also create set 4 before joining set 3 and of course the other person should create set 5 before joining set 4. Again any set not needed can be cancelled later but this should hopefully speed up play.
7. If any player leaves the beach where a match is being played during a set, that set will automatically default to a 6-0 defeat for the player who leaves [This is a game mechanic not a rule]. If this happens, that result will stand, the set will not and cannot be replayed. All match results should be posted on the forum, a match will not be considered completed until the results are posted and any match result not posted in the correct time frame will be declared as a void match and the players taking part will be treated as if they had not played the match.
Related to Participation Requirements
8. There will be a limit of 16 players for Major Tournaments, and 20 players for Open Tournaments.
Once seeding comes into effect seeds will automatically qualify and there will therefore also be a qualifying tournament if needed.
9. Registered players must play in at least 2 of the four PTA Open, and in one PTA Major (if qualified) events per year in order to keep their registration active (as long as you let us know what is happening we are fine, if You can't meet the requirement). Any player who missed any tournament required without informing the tour directors of the reason for their absence will be fined 200 ranking points.
Related to Sanctions and Penalties
10. All matches should be played by midnight CET of the day on which they are scheduled. However, we recognize that various things and time zones can and will cause delays and therefore players will not be punished unless their match has not been completed by noon CET the day after it is scheduled - in theory this means there are 36 hours to play any given match. If a match is not started by noon CET the day after it is scheduled, the player or players responsible for the delay will be disqualified and forfeit any prize money and points due, and also be liable to a 100 point deduction. A match that has started, but not completed by noon CET on the day after it is scheduled, will see the player or players causing the delay recieve a 10% fine of all prize money and points they would be due from that tournament and also a yellow card for delay if this is their 1st offence. A second delay offence will incur an orange card and 25% fine, whilst a 3rd delay offence will result in red card and ban from the following tournament. Any match not completed by 18:00 CET the day after scheduled will see any fine doubled, although no further card will be added at this point as this will be treated as the same delay. Failure to finish the match by 22:00 CET the day after scheduled will see one or both players disqualified from the tournament.
11. Players must not, once a match is underway, use any artificial means to improve their skills, health or dexterity (Normal updates if they happen, happen thats just life). This is mainly related to the use of credits and other special items. Players should not hold up matches by leaving the arena to go on dates etc between sets, unless they have come to a formal agreement with their opponents to do so or their opponent is taking an inordinate amount of time to play, in which case they should inform the directors of the situation. If there is someone else who has interloped into a match, please kick this player asap. If you see someone interloped please inform the match host so they can kick them.
12. Players should not post blogs and statements that are derogatory towards the tour, tour directors, other players or the devs - uhm the latter is an offence that could see you in serious trouble with those people - or send messages to players & officials of the tour that are of a derogatory nature. Whilst we realise this is a sport and inevitably rivalries will surface and that players will also have feelings of aggrievement from time to time with each other, with the rulings of the directors and tweaks from the devs, these should always be dealt with in a respectable manner. There is a huge difference between teasing your opponents and building a rivalry through sensible blogging, and posting derisory and offensive blogs and statements that are contrary to the spirit of the tour. We are trying to build a serious professional tour, which will need the help of the devs to become what we want it to be, therefore we must always be mindful of staying within the RoC even in terms of roleplaying rivalries and disputes.
13. Players who are punished for breaking the rules should not discuss this on the public forum. If you have a grevience you may approach the tour directors or the player reps or other nominated person in case of a language barrier, who will take up your case for you. Players who are not involved in any dispute should not intervene unless they have been nominated by the player being punished for breaking the rules. It is not the end of the world if you are punished for breaking the rules, please take a deep breath and think before posting or entering into any dispute.
14. In the event of any dispute in reference to the Tour, the decision of the Tour Directors shall be final.
Related to Players' Representative
15. The PTA Tour Players' Representative shall be elected once every 2 years (ABAB) trough a voting process of PTA Tour players. Only players who have won at least one PTA Major or one PTA Open will be eligible for the Players' Representative election. The PTA Tour Player's Representative will join the PTA Board of Directors and will work closely with the Board to develop the PTA Tour, defending and preserving the rights of the
PTA Tour Players.
16. The PTA Tour Players' Representative will receive an annual compensation of €1,000,000.
